History

James County was organized in 1871 during the troubled reconstruction period following the Civil War. The courthouse, known as “Old Jim,” was completed in 1913. In 1919, the county was dissolved and became part of Hamilton County. James County came to be known as “the lost county.” In March 2000, two sisters and a brother purchased the courthouse and gave it a new direction–the Mountain Oaks Wedding Chapel. It was sold to Tim and Sonya Guffey in 2017 and continues to grow as a wedding venue and Tearoom.

Gardenview Room

Holds up to 40 people or outdoor patio space holds up to 60 people $75.00  weekends/after 4:00 pm $100 +catering plated and served catering/menu options courtyard sampler $21.95 per person or condensed menu choices - courtyard sampler, Sammy plate or quiche DuJour $21.95 per person. Buffet options are available for the Gardenview Room.
